Third Hilton Lake and Mt. Huntington

Several areas of good campsites are located around the second Hilton Lake, especially on the northeastern side. For more privacy try working your way around to the southwestern shore. Davis Lake has good campsites also. Up at the third lake find nice sites among the stunted trees along the northwestern side of the lake. The fourth lake has sites near the outlet.

Fish for rainbow and brook trout in all the lower Hilton Lake. Some of the higher lakes have golden trout.

Trails connect the lower Hilton Lakes. Most of the upper lakes are easily reached by cross-country hikes over fairly accessible terrain. Hikers down to Davis Lake should be prepared for mosquitoes.

Peak Bagging

Mount Stanford Viewpoint: Follow a use trail that traces along the north side of the creek that feeds lake 10353. Although the trail eventually fades, you can continue up the canyon to the west to a saddle near Mount Stanford.
Experienced mountaineers may choose to follow a class 2 route to the summit of Mt. Stanford as described in R. J. Secor's The High Sierra: Peaks, Passes, and Trails.
